Mike is one of the pastors of Open House, a new church plant of The Bridge. With this message, we begin a new series on transformation. Our regular weekly rhythm of preaching through the Bible will be on hold during the weeks of this series.
One of the key challenges Mike presents is this: we need Jesus! Although this sounds pretty straight-forward and even simplistic, if you really think about it, we often live as though Jesus is a convenient accessory to our faith. We must come to understand – and then live out – the truth that Jesus is essential to a transformed life.

Followers of Jesus are, at their core, “story” people. We’ve received the story of salvation, and we pass it on through our proclamation. In 1 Corinthians 15:1-11, the apostle Paul identifies the core of the message: Christ died according to the scriptures, he was buried, he was raised on the third day according to the scriptures, and he appeared to faithful witnesses. And with that first generation of faithful witnesses, the process of receiving and passing on began.
