Jesus: Revealed to the World
Sunday, May 9, 2010
Reader: Leslie Goff
Speaker: Wayne Cox
This is the sixth Sunday after Easter. Our attention is still on the resurrected Jesus; but we begin to look toward his ascension.
We can look at no better passage for understanding how Jesus viewed his departure from earth than chapters 13-17 of the Gospel of John — Jesus’ farewell discourse with his friends. Today’s message comes from that context – John 14:23-29. A close look at verses 23-24 is like a window into the whole of Scripture! Wayne walks through the narrative of the Bible to show that God’s glory isincarnated glory. From Jesus’ words to his followers, we learn that God is revealed in the obedient, action-oriented love of the beloved community.

Conversion
Sunday, April 18, 2010
Speaker: Wayne Cox
In Acts 9:1-20, we read about the famous conversion of Saul on the “Damascus Road.” But there are actually two conversions in this passage. This passage illustrates a consistent theme from the Bible: when God is the agent of change, all things are possible. Conversion, in the end, is not a story about us – it’s a story about God. It’s all about him!
