Dealing With Unanswered Prayers
Sunday, August 8, 2010
Reader: Randy Orban
Speaker: Wayne Cox
There are sweeping promises in the Bible about God responding to our requests; and yet many of us are holding on to the hurt and disillusionment of unanswered prayer. In this message, Wayne offers eight possible reasons for unanswered prayer, explores the “logic” of unanswered prayer, and draws encouragement from the examples of unanswered prayer in the Bible.
Why Pray?
Sunday, August 1, 2010
Reader: Craig Catlett
Speaker: Wayne Cox
In any discussion of prayer, we must start here: Why Pray? If God is all-knowing, what difference could our prayers really make? If we never really settle on an answer to this question, we run the risk of skimming through life, never going deep in our faith-journey. We may just give up on prayer. We may pray – but it’s likely to be out of some sense of obligation or fulfilling expectations – but it won’t be from a pure heart if we don’t wrestle with this question.

Thoughts on Prayer
Psalm 145, verse 5 says, “On the glorious splendour of your majesty, and on your wondrous works, I will meditate.”
Philip Yancey, in his book entitled, Prayer, wrote: “The main purpose of prayer is not to make life easier, nor to gain magical powers, but to know God. I need God more than anything I might get from God.”
This message looks at contemplative prayer and the challenge of making time. Wayne posted several follow-up resources at his blog.
