The Two-Edged Sword of “Immanuel”
In Matthew 1:18-25, we’re given the gracious words of the angel that promised Jesus was Immanuel, which means “God with us!” The implications are radical! We must acknowledge if “God with us” is real, then we can’t just go on and do our own thing in our own ways without ever having to expect we might just be surprised one day to find God pushing us in another direction.
